Meet Jennaro Percodani: The Defensive Anchor Ready to Lead Your Locker Room
"Hard-hitting. High-IQ. Humble. If you’re looking for a college-ready freshman who can lead from day one, make an impact on special teams, and raise the standard in your locker room - Jennaro Percodani should be on your radar."
Meet Jennaro Percodani: The Defensive Anchor Ready to Lead Your Locker Room
In a game where instincts, leadership, and toughness matter as much as raw athleticism, Jennaro Percodani stands out as a coach’s kind of player. A 5’10”, 190-lb middle linebacker from Marlboro High School (NJ), Jennaro is the kind of athlete who doesn’t just play defense - he commands it.
Linebacker with a Quarterback Mindset
As the starting Mike linebacker, Jennaro isn’t just delivering hits - he’s calling the shots. Responsible for reading the offense, identifying formations, and adjusting coverage calls pre-snap, he’s essentially the quarterback of the defense. Coaches at the next level will appreciate his vocal leadership and field IQ, but what sets him apart is how he leads: by example, not ego.
“After practice, I don’t order kids around—I do the work with them.
I want to show I’m just one of the guys and we’re a cohesive team. We’re one unit.”
Toughness and Versatility You Can Count On
Despite injuries in both his sophomore and junior seasons, Jennaro never tapped out. He battled through, recovered smartly in the offseason, and came back stronger. That grit shows in his 2023 stat line:
71 Total Tackles
9 TFLs
3 Sacks
2 PBUs
1 Interception
1 Forced Fumble
1 Fumble Recovery
In 2024, he’ll add starting fullback to his resume, while also contributing as a long snapper and kickoff unit player. Few recruits bring that kind of plug-and-play flexibility on both sides of the ball and special teams.
Student of the Game — On the Field and in the Classroom
When his team brought in a new OC and offensive system, Jennaro learned the playbook fast - proof of his high football IQ and ability to adapt. He studies film closely, even texting back-and-forth with his defensive coordinator to break down tape and identify improvements.
In the classroom, Jennaro’s 3.74 GPA and 1200 SAT score reflect the same drive. He’s NCAA-eligible and planning to major in engineering, bringing brains and discipline to everything he does.
Looking for the Right Fit, Not Just the Flash
With an open mind toward playing at any level, Jennaro is more focused on fit than flash. He wants a coaching staff that values leadership, accountability, and work ethic. If your program builds around strong locker-room culture and positionless grit, Jennaro Percodani is your guy.
